A sneaker is a casual shoe, a leisure shoe, with a flat heel and a fit that is especially suited to walking and general use. Unlike a running shoe, which is made to meet a runner’s needs. That is, heel support, side support, cushioning in the forefoot, and toe spring. Lateral stability and ankle support are important. Sole materials vary.
Sneakers are not intended as running shoes and should provide comfort for walking, i.e. often good ankle support, roomy yet flexible.
